Hello, Yorkshire Village,
We are again getting calls from homeowners reporting that neighbors are not picking up after their dogs when out walking. Please be reminded that this is your direct responsibility as a pet owner to clean up after your dog when you’re out walking. This is also the law! Please see below attached Ordinances as they pertain to pets.
Please also be alerted that each homeowner has the right to report anyone caught allowing their dog to go on someone else’s property and leaving it there. The areas that are along the curb and along the sidewalks of a homeowners property are their areas to maintain, not yours to allow your dog to relieve themselves and walk away. It is extremely important that you take responsibility and pick up after your pet, this is a very serious health concern that absolutely cannot be ignored. With folks out and about now that the weather is getting nicer you need to pay attention.
The Health Department has been alerted to the issues and will be making their presence known within the Community. If you are caught walking your dog and not picking up, there will be a citation issued (which comes with a fine) by the Health Department. Additionally, they’ll also be checking to ensure that all pets are, in fact, registered with the township of Lawrence.
A large majority of homes are equipped with home surveillance cameras -- anyone identified leaving pet waste on another's property, WILL BE will be reported it to the Health Department.
Your time and attention in this very important matter is necessary…and appreciated.
